“There are those stories where the most dangerous thing is not to risk your life to tell them, but to stop filming them”
(Miguel Gil´s personal diary)
The Foundation provides training and equipment for journalists deployed in hazardous areas.
The Foundation has signed a partnership agreement with Reporters Without Borders Spain to help independent reporters who travel to conflict zones.
Under this agreement, to the best of its ability the Miguel Gil Moreno Foundation will acquire approved safety equipment, including helmets, vests and complementary accessories. Reporters Without Borders Spain handles requests and arrangements for temporary loan, delivery and pickup of this equipment by freelance journalists and reporters.
The Foundation seeks to ensure that companies adequately protect their journalists, whether employees or freelancers.
In lockstep the Foundation recognises the work of journalists who stand out for their professional and personal commitment in conflict situations by presenting the Miguel Gil Moreno Award every two years.
