Correspondent with La Vanguardia newspaper
Born in Barcelona 1955, he began as a journalist for the newspaper Tele Express. Later he worked for Avui and Noticiero Universal before he joined La Vanguardia, where he currently works as a reporter, specialising in social and international affairs.
His work as a special convoy began in Romania. He also wrote about the transition in Eastern countries and the war in former Yugoslavia.
He has been to numerous conflicts and humanitarian crises in Africa, writing about Rwanda. He has travelled to Central America and Asia and has written many books, including “35 Days in China”, written together with Eugenio Madueño after a train journey across the country.
He is awarded the first Miguel Gil Moreno Prize for Journalism for his written report “The Last Refuge. All the Pain of the World”; for his professional journey and for his concept of journalism as a service to society, consistent with Miguel Gil´s spirit.
The report is about the Aldea de la Paz in Germany, a home for children from all over the world with war injuries. Published in La Vanguardia magazine 29th December 2001.
